How is your school\ncelebrating?&nbsp; While it\u2019s important to\npromote a culture of kindness at your school all year long, Random Acts of\nKindness Week is the perfect time to talk with students about good character,\ncitizenship, respect, tolerance, and kindness toward others. To help you\ncelebrate, here are 15 fun ideas you can do as a class to get your students\nactively engaged with the concepts of kindness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1) List 100 Ways<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make\na list of 100 ways to be kind to others. Write the list on poster-size paper or\na banner and hang it in your classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2) Create a Class Song About Kindness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perform it for other classes at your school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" src=\"https:\/\/www.itselementary.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Kindness_Song.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4789\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3) Write Poems or Stories\nInvolving Kindness Concepts<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have\nstudents write their own, or let them work in groups, and then share their\nwriting with the class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4) Create Kindness\nBadges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Create\nbadges that students can hand out to each other if they see someone else being\nkind or someone who needs some kindness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5) Set up a Kindness\nTree<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place\na fake tree in your classroom and hang tags with acts of kindness written on\nthem. Have each student choose a tag every day and perform the kindness act\nwritten on it at some point through the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6) Create a Kindness\nBoard<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turn\na bulletin board or wall into a Kindness Board and provide sticky notes or\nsmall pieces of paper. Encourage students to share kindness acts they witness\nothers doing or to say \u201cThank You\u201d to someone who did something for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"311\" src=\"https:\/\/www.itselementary.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/ThankYouNotes.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4791\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>7) Kindness Cards<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have\nstudents write and send postcards to hospitalized children or the siblings of\nhospitalized children to help cheer them up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>8) Kindness Calendar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turn Random Acts of Kindness Week into Random Acts of Kindness MONTH. Create a classroom calendar with a kind act listed for each day, and encourage kids to perform the act for each day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>9) Show Appreciation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have\nstudents write letters or make banners showing appreciation to\nbehind-the-scenes staff (e.g. custodians, cooks, lunch monitors, security\nguards, etc.) at your school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.itselementary.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Appreciation_Banner.jpg\" alt=\"Teacher_Appreciation_Banner\" class=\"wp-image-4657\" width=\"338\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.itselementary.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Appreciation_Banner.jpg 450w, https:\/\/www.itselementary.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Appreciation_Banner-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.itselementary.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/Appreciation_Banner-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 338px) 100vw, 338px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>10) Thank-you Station<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Set\nup a station with a box, paper, and pencils where students can write notes\n(signed or anonymous) to thank someone else for something. Read the notes out\nloud at the end of the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>11) Make Videos<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\nstudents create their own videos outlining kindness concepts. Have a screening\n(complete with popcorn) of all the videos at the end of the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>12) Start a Kindness\nClub<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recruit students to be members of a Kindness Club that promotes concepts and acts of kindness all year long. Visit your school library and have student\nleave their bookmarks in random books for others to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>15) Kindness Rocks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do\na fun art project where students paint kindness rocks and leave them in random\nplaces in the community for strangers to find.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kick off Random Acts of Kindness Week at your school by handing out <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"buttons (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itselementary.com\/student-awards\/buttons\" target=\"_blank\">buttons<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"dog tags (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.itselementary.com\/student-awards\/dog-tags\" target=\"_blank\">dog tags<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itselementary.com\/student-awards\/wristbands-and-beads\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"wristbands (opens in a new tab)\">wristbands<\/a> promoting good character and citizenship.
