ARRA American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009

On February 17, President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) which provides over $80 billion in additional federal funds for preK-12 education. In addition to providing extra funds for existing federal programs like Title I, the 2009 economic stimulus bill includes almost $54 billion for a State Fiscal Stabilization Fund which can be used for preventing teacher layoffs, reducing program cutbacks, and promoting school facility modernization programs.
